Newsletter December 2018

Dear Parents,

We hope you are all well and enjoyed Half Term. The children are all settling in well and enjoying our varied activities. Our theme this term will be Celebrations which will include Diwali, Children in Need and of course Christmas.

Closed group (only for parents with children currently in Cylch) – Cylch Meithrin yr Eglwys Newydd 2018/2019
Please join the group and return the permission slips if you would like us to post photos of your children on this group. There are lovely photos of all our various activities which we cannot post until all forms are returned.

Even if you are not an avid user of social media we find the facebook page is a useful way of sharing information quickly and effectively and you may miss some of this if you are not in the group.

At our Annual General Meeting, held on Oct 24th, the following core committee members were elected;
Joint Chairs: Martha Nicklin and Sian Rigler
Treasurer: Delyth Drew
Secretary: Elin Davies
Thank you to all parents who came along and enjoyed our Bingo night. Also, a huge thank you to Simon Bevan who has done an outstanding job as the treasurer for the past two years. Diolch yn Fawr Iawn!!!

Could all parents please hand us any monies in a clearly marked envelope. We have over 60 children attending Cylch and we do not want any money getting mixed up.
If you haven’t already done so, please could all children bring in a family photo to display in Cylch? This is part of our ongoing ‘All About Me theme’ and the children love looking at these photos whilst in Cylch.

Please do not park in the Bowls Club or Little Cherubs spaces. Please help us stay friends with our neighbours. The chairperson has informed us that clamps will be used if people park illegally.

Uniforms, coats and bags.
Please could all coats and bags be clearly labelled. Also, the children will need a bag of clothes (in case of accidents of getting messy) clearly labelled. Please could the children wear their Cylch t-shirts as it fosters a sense of belonging to the Cylch family.
We are selling Cylch hoodies and t shirts along with hats and water bottles.
If you want to order a hoody, please let Mrs Loveluck or Mrs Young know.

Bags 2 School
To raise funds for Cylch we have signed up for the Bags 2 School Scheme. Each child will be given a bag to fill with good quality, unwanted clothes over the Christmas period. Please see attached letter. If anyone needs any extra bags please see staff. The more bags, the more money! They will be collecting on January 24th so please bring filled bags to Cylch the day before.

Children in Need
This year we will be celebrating Children in Need on Thursday 15th November. Please wear pyjamas and bring £1. There will be a cake stall at the end of each session.

Scout Post
The cylch will be closed from Monday 26th November until Friday 7th December due to the hall being used for the Scout Post. We apologise for any inconvenience.

We will be holding a Christmas film night in the Tennis Club on Wednesday 28th November at 5.30pm. There will a small charge of £2 per child. There will be hot chocolate and popcorn available for the children (and the bar will be open for the adults), Father Christmas will there to read the children a story and there will be a film. Please come in pyjamas/onesies and bring blankets and toys etc. This proved to be a big success last year.

Parent Consultations
Parent consultations will be held in January. There will be a list up outside Cylch after Christmas for you to book a 10 minute slot to discuss your child’s progress.

Christmas Fair
The fair will take place on Saturday December 1st from 12.30 until 2.30. We need people to help set up, clean up, run a stall and donate goods.

Fundraising this term is significantly down on the same time last year despite us having over 20 more children. It is a vital part of our Cylch. Without fundraising we would cease to exist. Please come along and support this fun day. We will need donations of Bottles, cakes, filled jars or sweets/small toys, raffle prizes etc.

Whilst on the subject of fundraising and Christmas we would be very grateful if you would consider joining “easyfundraising”. It’s a really easy way to raise money for us – you just use the easyfundraising site to shop online with more than 3,300 well known online stores like Amazon, Argos, John Lewis, ASOS,, eBay, Boden, and M&S and when you make a purchase, the retailer sends us a free donation, at no extra cost to you. With Christmas coming if everyone joined we might raise quite a bit!

We want to raise as much as possible, so please visit our new easyfundraising page at and click ‘support us’. Or if you follow this link (which is also posted on our facebook page), we will also get money each time a new person signs up;…
